Tara B. Nethercott

Tara B. Nethercott serves her community and State with distinction as a Wyoming Senator and practicing attorney in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Nethercott’s Wyoming roots run deep. Her family homesteaded Wyoming in the late 1880’s. Nethercott was elected to the Wyoming Senate in 2016 from Laramie County where she is the Majority Leader. She previously served as the chairman of the judiciary and appropriations committees, capital finance and investments, and blockchain, finance and digital innovation. As a state senator she has championed key legislation on a variety of issues, including financial technology, higher education, mental health resources, and protection of Wyoming’s critical infrastructure and military assets from foreign adversaries.

She currently practices with the law firm of Crowley Fleck – one of the oldest and largest law firms in the region. In 2024, Nethercott received the Patrick Henry Award from the National Guard Association, she also received the business advocate award from the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce and in 2022 she was awarded legislator of the year by the Wyoming Business Alliance, and she received the same award in 2024 and 2021 by the Wyoming County Commissioner’s Association. In 2020 she received the Person of the Year Award by the Chamber of Commerce. She is a graduate of the Council of State Governments Western Leadership Academy, Women in Government, Leadership Wyoming, and Leadership Cheyenne. Nethercott is also an alumnus of the National Security Forum Air War College and was a delegate to the Russian Federation through the American Council of Young Political Leaders. She is an Alumni of American Swiss Foundation and has been a Wyoming trade delegate to Taiwan.
