
Gordon Rooney
Gordon Rooney is an advisor and manager for workforce development and existing industry in South Carolina. He focuses on strengthening talent pipelines and fostering strategic partnerships among businesses, educators, and workforce agencies. He also serves on the South Carolina Commission on National and Community Service, leading policy initiatives to expand service and volunteerism statewide. Rooney previously advised state and local governments as a management consultant with Guidehouse, and supported cultural programming in the Charleston Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs. He also spent two years teaching in rural Japan and served with City Year AmeriCorps. Rooney is a member of the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition’s South Carolina Advisory Committee and the Alliance for Global Security’s International Advisory Council. He is an alumnus of the German Marshall Fund’s Manfred Wörner Seminar and the Warsaw Security Forum’s New Security Leaders program. He holds graduate degrees from the University of Michigan (MPA) and The Ohio State University (MBOE).
